BIOGRAPHYBen Sommers (guitar, vocals) joins forces once again with Anna Scott (cello, vocals) and new cohort, Ryan Thwaits (drums) in the guise of the hauntingly melodic Mozzy Green. Ben is fresh from recording his solo album, supporting Jason Lytle (Grandaddy) and a solo album preview at London's Hoxton Bar & Kitchen. Scott has been no slouch either, playing sessions and touring with Underground Railroad, Silent League and Blood Red Shoes amongst others, and even playing cello live with Imogen Heap.
This powerful off-kilter trio, who fuse lyrical brilliance and intrigue with distressed melodies and rhythmically propulsive guitar and raucous, driving cello, released their debut four track 12”, Robots on April 11th.
Their music is built on the foundations of such influences as Tom Waits, Syd Barrett, Elliott Smith, Stravinsky and a folk and punk attitude. The results are both startlingly beautiful, and broodingly vengeful.
Having previously played at numerous venues across the south of England, including Summer festival appearances at Beautiful Days, Standon Calling and the venerable Secret Garden Party, the trio will be playing shows throughout 2011 including a return to Secret Garden Party, and the Cambridge Festival.
